The fast and hollow waves can reach double-digit heights and though\u00a0many may know Maui for golf, nature landscapes and other features,\u00a0surfing is phenomenal whether in Lahaina or Kihei. Some surf spots are\u00a0consistent in their right or left directions, some are very crowded on\u00a0the weekends and some are dominated by local surfers. Watch and learn\u00a0if you\u2019re a novice. Shortboards, rippers, rounded pins and\u00a0pin-tails are the most often used at Maui\u2019s surf spots.<\/p>\n

Ho\u2019okipa Beach Park
\n<\/strong >Known for windsurfing and picnics, Ho\u2019okipa Beach Park is also\u00a0the surfing site to which the Road to Hana leads, so consider it a\u00a0worthy detour and take the challenge. The swell directions are\u00a0several, north, west, east and northwest. The wind directions are\u00a0south, southeast and southwest. Bring your shortboard here and enjoy a\u00a0gentle paddle out. Take advantage of a week, or longer, of surfing,\u00a0with Middles and Pavillions nearby. Avid surfers will feed their\u00a0thrill-seeking souls when surfing here and all will enjoy a chance to\u00a0take in the spectacular backdrop, complete with a windsurfer or two.\u00a0Spectators should find their spot at the Ho\u2019okipa Lookout, which\u00a0offers viewing of both Ho\u2019okipa (also called Point) and\u00a0Pavillions.<\/p>\n

La La Land<\/a><\/strong>
\nSurf Ho\u2019okipa from dawn till dusk and then retire to this\u00a0luxury home and its stunning ocean view infinity pool. Hosting a beach\u00a0bash here calls for more than a cooler full of beers. Call the caterer\u00a0and celebrate with good food, an indulgent setting and plenty of good\u00a0brews. Fine furniture, both indoors and outside, gourmet kitchen and\u00a0top-notch features throughout this home will undoubtedly give you\u00a0reason to extend your stay. Slaughterhouse Beach is nearby, with surf\u00a0spots, windsurfing, bodysurfing and lots of dramatic sunrises and\u00a0sunsets. Surf Ho\u2019okipa and aim to\u00a0check out the other 40 surf spots on Maui and definitely find some\u00a0time to watch (or participate in) the windsurfing at Ho\u2019okipa\u00a0or Lanes. Lahaina Harbor, Break Wall

Skill levels from novice to experienced can find a good\u00a0day\u2019s surfing here and the summertime is ideal. Watch out for\u00a0vuana (urchins) and reef and keep in mind that it gets crowded during\u00a0the week and weekends. Break Wall is a left reef break and surfers\u00a0have found the low and medium tides best. Swell directions are from\u00a0the south, southwest and west, with wind directions from the north,\u00a0northwest and east.<\/p>\n

Truuli Maui Hale<\/a><\/strong>
\nAn intimate luxury estate that offers a small\u00a0family or group of friends an indulgent stay in Lahaina. Sports\u00a0enthusiasts will be enthralled with the multitude of opportunities to\u00a0play in and out of the water; in addition to surfing, the location is\u00a0great for golf, snorkeling and plenty of beach hikes. It\u2019s considered world class for the fastest\u00a0rights, particularly during swells in the south direction. Summer is\u00a0the best for this surf spot.<\/p>\n

Lotus Indo House at Kamaole Beach<\/a><\/strong>
\nOpen the bedroom door and it leads to the hot tub and an ocean view at\u00a0Lotus Indo House, which has plenty to keep you entertained at home or\u00a0at the nearby beach. Luxurious bathroom fixtures and incredible home\u00a0furnishings and features make this a top pick for surfers and their\u00a0guests who like to have good restaurants and attractions nearby but\u00a0also a place to escape after a strenuous workout on the Maalaea\u00a0Freight Train. Guests need not bring much for a stay here as\u00a0everything from bar ware to children\u2019s games are supplied.<\/p>\n

Hale Lanui<\/a><\/strong>
