Whether you take an excursion or stay on land, whale watching in Maui December to April is an incredible lifetime experience and a must while vacationing in Hawaii. The closest you can get to the humpback whales that swim from Alaska to Maui is 100 yards away. Pack a picnic at this beach in Wailea and sit back for a stunning view of the whales, possibly dolphins and the islands of Molokini and Kahoolawe.

Located near Ma’alaea, this wildly adventurous spot includes a beckoning lighthouse and jagged coastline. McGregor Point is located off Honoapiilani Highway (Highway 30), just past Mile Marker #8. Winding paths, coral reefs and deep blue waters mark the setting as you watch whales, optimally at dawn or dusk.

This popular West Maui beach in the Kapalua area is known for surfing. It has all the facilities you’ll need to enjoy a day at the beach, so plan on a barbecue, watch the waters and spot the humpback whales. D.T. Fleming Beach Park is located at the Ritz Carlton resort area and is a great family beach surrounded by ironwood trees.

This park in West Maui is a great local hangout located at mile marker #27. In addition to seeing whales, you’ll see Lanai and Molokai in the distance. Picnics and sunsets are what S-Turns is for and early morning is a good time for whale watching, particularly for an abundance of whales.

Kamaole Park has white sands, picnic areas, facilities and a great atmosphere for swimming and relaxing. Located in South Maui, it is three beaches alongside one another and provides excellent vantage points for whale watching.
