Top 25 Destinations on TripAdvisor

TripAdvisor recently released its Travelers’ Choice 2011 list of The Best Destinations, with each of the primary Hawaiian islands earning a rank and three placing in the top 10. The TripAdvisor website has more than 45 million travelers posting their experiences and opinions. The towns featured include Honolulu, Oahu; Lahaina, Maui; Kailua-Kona, Big Island and Poipu, Kauai. Each island has its distinct features and appeal, as do each of the cities that were selected.

Planning a trip to Oahu? Take a look at our Kahala vacation rentals that are a secluded and quiet escape, but still conveniently located near the city.

Honolulu, Oahu (#2)
While initially known for surfing and fantastic beaches, goes well beyond that image when travelers arrive. Its dynamic cityscapes, cultural and heritage sites that include palaces and global landmarks, vibrant nightlife and fast-paced areas that balance the quieter spots makes it a destination that brings repeat visitors, plus new visitors to neighboring islands.

Luxury Rentals in Prime Locations – Kaanapali Kahala Estate

Kaanapali Kahala Estate
Black Rock, signature beaches and world-acclaimed golf are the features of legendary Kaanapali on Maui’s West Side. Spend your days lounging at Kaanapali Kahala Estate, with its vast grounds, spacious living spaces and two master suites overlooking the sea. The gourmet kitchen is excellent for catering parties for 16 or just two.

Make sure to find time for a sunset stroll to see the daily cliff diving ceremony off Black Rock (Puu Kekaa) where you’ll see a cliff diver light torches for a pathway along the cliff and then watch the show as he brings to life the cliff diving bravery of Maui’s royal past, as displayed by King Kahekili centuries ago. When you want to leave the Kaanapali Kahala Estate, which is rare, you’ll possibly find yourself browsing the shops at Whalers Village.

Luxury Rentals in Prime Locations – Kapalua Mauka Main House

Kapalua Mauka Main House
A private luxury resort for a romantic escape or a paradise fun-fest for a family, Kapalua Mauka Main House is a dream home that will have you wondering what to experience first. Whether lounging by the 50’ infinite-edge pool or playing a mini-round on your small golf course, you can indulge in every single living space both indoors and outdoors in nature’s island paradise on Maui’s West Side.

While you won’t want to work, if you must while on vacation, the office provides inspiration, although the three walls with windows beckon with views of nature just outside. Each amenity surpasses the next—the outdoor fire pit, unbelievably captivating views of Kahalawai, open living areas that are fun for gatherings, luxuriating bath areas and a media room.

Luxury Rentals in Prime Locations – Ku’uipo Estate

Some of the most indulgent vacation rentals were once playgrounds and residences for ancient Hawaiian royalty. Today, a new type of royalty luxuriates in homes that make it difficult to explore beyond the grounds. Kailua, Oahu’s Ku’uipo Estate sleeps 14 comfortably throughout eight sleeping rooms, each with its own bathroom. The Zen-inspired home is a resort unto itself, complete with kayaks, pool toys for the children, two master bedrooms with full ocean views and a pool that mirrors back a sapphire blue sheen to the Kailua sky.

Reserve your stay at the Ku’uipo Estate.

Kailua is known for private luxury estates, fine shopping and sights, pristine beaches and plenty of upscale dining with excellent local fare. The quiet community allows you to keep to yourself as much as you want and the residents are pleasantly engaging when you’re exploring their lovely town with assets such as the Mokulua Islands, Kawainui Marshland, Mount Olomana and sacred ancient Hawaiian sites, to name only a few.
