Actor Alex O’Loughlin, who plays the Steve McGarrett as the head of the crime-fighting Five-O team, reminisced about shooting the 23 episodes and a pilot and noted that the cast and crew had bonded during their time in the Islands which included many long workdays. O’Laughlin has said that he will spend the summer between his hometown Australia as well as Los Angeles and Hawaii.
Actor Scott Caan, who plays Danno Williams, will be working on his other job at the hit show Entourage and may also perform in a play. Caan is a fairly experienced surfer, and though he hurt his knee early in the season which kept him out of the water, once it healed he began enjoying riding Hawaii’s waves.
The new Hawaii Five-O show has been a boon for local businesses and sites featured in the show. For example, since the Battleship Missouri Memorial was featured in an early episode it has led to a surge of tourists at the historic Pearl Harbor site.
