If you’re an experienced scuba diver, Hawaii is heaven. Beautiful waters, interesting animals and … long-lost airplanes? The Corsair Airplane Wreck is one of Oahu’s most famous wrecks and has been underwater since 1946, when a pilot abandoned it after experiencing engine problems during exercises.
While relatively small, the plane is mostly intact – a rarity in itself! Divers can take amazing photos with a cockpit seat you can still sit in, and a propeller that remains standing tall. Words to the wise: Be careful of eels and rays – they are known to guard their adopted “home.”
The plane lies over 100 feet deep in the ocean, so only experienced divers will want to tackle this adventure.
