to find the perfect Kauai vacation.
Hanalei Bay Resort 9204 9205 9206 - The views were fantastic we sat out on our lani every night to watch the sunsets. We did the tree top zip lines which were great would recomend this company also we went out on zodiac boat with a north shore company with capt Gary we saw dolphines, turtles, flying fish and more.
Hawaiian Romantic Cottage - Such a beautiful, romantic and very seculded place to stay! We held our wedding and spent our honeymoon at the cottage and loved every minute we were able to spend there. :) We will definitely be returning for our first anniversary!
Kahalelehua - This house was a very good value, and a great location, right across from the path to Hanalei Bay and walking distance to town. It has great views out the back of the mountains and waterfalls. We very much enjoyed our stay here. It is a perfect house for 5 or 6 people.
Pualani Princeville - The house was just beautiful. Perfectly decorated. It seemed specially designed to ensure relaxation. It was a haven for us. We got to do everything we wanted to, including nothing at all. There are great beaches just a few minutes away by car, or if you are in incredibly good shape, there's one that's walking distance down a very steep hill. The grocery store was extremely convenient (just 2 minutes away), so we stocked the already well-appointed kitchen with food and cooked a few of our own meals. That made some special memories too. Our favorite restaurant was the Lighthouse Bistro (try the coconut pork medallions). The Kilahuea Lighthouse is a must-visit. And don't leave the island without a helicopter tour (we took Safari Helicopters). Would do it all over again, in fact, can't wait to do it all over again.
Hale Emmalani - What would make Hale Emmalani completely perfect is putting it on the beach, yet my family just loved the space the home offers and we thought the location and the surrounding neighborhood was fabulous! It was a special treat waking up to the mountain peaks with their incredible waterfalls. Plus, several fantastic beaches are a walk or a short car ride away, so we really felt like we had the best of both worlds. Moreover, the house offers plenty of space for two families of four to find places to retreat to, or participate in a game of pool, or play in the fabulous private pool when you wanted to. The Princeville Shopping Center provides nearby grocery shopping and CJ's Steakhouse serves a mean steak and excellent seafood. Additionally, Hanalei Bay is just 10 minutes away. Lots of great little boutiques and terrific restaurants here, not to mention the glorious beach and mountain peaks' backdrop. Kauai is absolutely awesome, yet the North Shore wherein Hale Emmalani is located really rocks (a true paradise!). The best part of the island indeed! We hope to visit again... soon!
Waipouli Beach Resort D309 - The unit was beautiful, and well furnished. I didn't like the shower heads. Unfortunately the unit also had ants in the kitchen. The pool was great.
When we checked in the unit had not been cleaned. After talking with Cyrilla@ Remax, (who wasn't very friendly) she arranged cleaning. It was several hours before we were able to access the unit.
I would recommend the Waipouli Beach Resort.
Alii Kai 3102 - Alii Kai was a good place for my husband and I to stay at in Kauai. Not staying at a mega resort made us want to enjoy more of the many outdoors activities the island has to offer. The condo was spacious enough for 2 couples, both with ocean views. If you come out on to the deck, you can see the sunset over Hanelei Bay in the distance to the north. The ocean view was wide and expansive, and it was amazing to see the rain fall on the ocean from a far. The unit is adequate, although there are little to no spices and some areas lack a thorough cleaning. But it was still a tidy, spacious place and a good deal compared to what you get elsewhere. Places to go: dinner and entertainment in Hanalei for sure and go for pupus / drinks at the Princeville Resort at the terrace bar and the Hyatt over in Koloa when you drive to that side of the island. Save the money on lodging and visit these beautiful resorts for the ambiance and drinks.
Banana Beach House - The Banana Beach House was everything and more than the listing indicated. It was understated luxury, spacious, inviting and very comfortable for our two families. The two master suites were wonderful - one had a view of the ocean and the other a view of the mountains. There were breathaking vies of the ocean from the great room, dining area and kitchen. We dined al fresco with palm trees in the background. The location of this house was ideal. We had a wonderful beach mostly to oursleves. The water was clear, the colors glorious and the snorkeling quite good. The neighborhood was peaceful. We went into Hanalei for excellent dining and fun shopping experiences.
The amenities, layout, furnishings and location of the Banana Beach House made this a truly dream vacation. Kudos to the owners for doing it right!
Kuraoka Cottage Haena - Nestled off the beaten path between two mountains, Kuraoka Cottage Haena is a lovely and peaceful cottage home. The treetop views of the mountains and distant waterfalls were beautiful, and the gentle sound of rainfall on the rooftop was cleansing to the soul. Do not expect an artificial "condo experience". Kuraoka is an opportunity to "borrow" the lovingly and artistically decorated cottage of a local owner and experience living within the Haena community.
I do not suggest that you try to first locate the cottage after dark as my husband and I did. We found it without missing a turn, but we felt as if we were contestants on The Great Race! A hand-drawn map of the bridges we would cross would have been helpful. Do bring a flashlight. It'll help you find your way from the road to your door on cloud covered nights.
Hawaiian Beach Rentals were very professional in dealing with us. The property was well represented and they were very quick to tend to a few small glitches that arose after we had checked in.
Kurakoa Cottage Haena is ideally located near the "end-of-the-road" beaches. If we are ever able to return again, I would definitely spend more time at each beach - just soaking up the sun and sounds of the North Shore. Ke'e beach, with its crystal clear water and great snorkeling, is not to be missed! Looking for coffee and baked goods on the run? The Village Snack & Bakery Shop is a great place to stop.
We loved our stay at Kurakoa Cottage and would considered ourselves blessed if ever we could return once again!
