Big Island is known for sun and sand, but has much more to offer. The activities available to Big Island visitors are plentiful and varied.
For one thing, divers will find the clear, warm water to be a near ideal setting. The numerous shallow reefs also provide excellent views for those wishing to snorkel. A glass bottomed kayak is also a popular option to take in the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands and is commonly available. If you're looking to get your adrenaline flowing, parasailing from the back of a speedboat sounds scary, but is actually a very pleasant way to enjoy a panoramic view of Big Island. And for the true adrenaline junky, paragliding lessons while in Hawaii can be both scenic and exhilarating!

Volcanoes are one of the many spectacles of nature available in Hawaii and travelers should not miss out on a tour. As a follow up to watching magma make its steamy entry into the sea, a rainforest tour of Hawaii offers a glimpse into this rare ecosystem that few other places in the United States can offer. Big Island is known for its diverse floral range, and visiting the numerous gardens can be a full day's activity in and of itself. Visitors to Big Island will not want to miss the copious birds that can be found here, some of which are unique only to this area. Also, be sure to catch the music of the Hawaiian people that is celebrated all over the world for its rich tonal qualities and classic presentation. Thank you for your visit, and have a fantastic holiday in Hawaii!

"Beautiful, tastefully-decorated home. The use of Royal Blue, Light Blue and White throughout the home gives everything a clean, crisp beach feel and really adds to the ambiance of the home. Great artwork and attention-to-detail everywhere you look. Home is well-maintained and a perfect getaway, but come prepared for your stay with groceries from a larger store if you don't plan to venture out of town much. The owner of the local Puako General Store is a wonderful man, as is his whole family and he was just a delight to visit with. He was very helpful in a number of ways. His store stocks the basic necessities, but not much for 'main meals' like meats, fish or poultry, so you'll need to drive a bit further to a larger store for those items. The view from the home and the back patio was wonderful, but two planted fruit trees have grown rather tall and are large enough now to block some of the great view. The direct access to the beach is great, but the water was rather chruned up the week we were there, so one had to get rather far out for good snorkeling, and finding a sea turtle or two, but great for a quick dip and swimming in the immediate area adjacent to the home. The local rental office was very helpful and most accomodating when we needed to get an important fax, and all of the locals we met were very nice. There really weren't any 'downsides' for us other than only one of the three bedrooms had a small television and it would have been nice to have in the other bedrooms as well, and the beach area isn't really the kind you can lie on and so it really requires beach chairs. There was only one beach chair at the house, so a few more of these would have been helpful too. However....we really have no complaints. Beautiful home and definately a great place to stay if you're looking to get away from the tourist areas and have a very 'private' and relaxing vacation."
